Heer Table Lamp

I designed the Heer table lamp thinking about balance, how a single form can hold both restraint and warmth at the same time.
Each base begins on the wood lathe in our Ontario workshop, turned by hand from solid maple. I like how the wood takes on its pale, natural colour as it spins, and how a small movement of the tool becomes the flare and taper you see in the finished piece. The lower half wears a soft ivory finish, while the neck above stays bare, letting the maple grain show through and catch the light.
The name comes from Heer, the beloved heroine of a Punjabi love story passed down for generations. I wanted a lamp with the same quiet elegance, something that holds its ground in a room without asking for attention.
Heer was designed first with a navy linen shade, and now there is a second option: a soft white shade printed with two small figures riding oversized red fish, fishing rods in hand, a playful, almost storybook image that softens the lamp's more formal lines. This shade is available in two sizes, so you can choose the scale that suits your space.
Every Heer lamp takes about one to two weeks to reach you. That time goes into the final hand finishing, into packaging each piece with care, and, for the fish shade, sometimes into having the shade itself made to order.
If you have a question, or you are thinking about a custom size or finish, reach out through our contact form or write to us directly at info@tahirmahmood.com. I am always glad to talk through an idea before it becomes a lamp.
